Michele had sliding trays made for
her built-in cabinets, then added
playful dog drawer pulls that she
painted chocolate brown. “I believe
in designing storage to fit particular
needs,” she says. “ For 3-D objects,
you want deep drawers. To store
papers flat,you need sliding trays.”
She outfitted the shelves with woven
baskets and sturdy recycled shopping
bags for easy-to-access storage.
Calligraphy labels adorn colorful file
folders. “The unified writing makes me
feel more organized,” Michele says.
“I believe in m a k in g blah

Ordinary paint cans wrapped in remnants of
wallpaper make creative storage for colored pencils
and markers. A silver chalice made by Michele’s
grandfather, a silversmith, holds her favorite office
supply for keeping fabric swatches and wallpaper
samples in order: labeled clothespins.
